Description

The Citroën 2CV — known in Germany and Austria as the “Ente” and in Switzerland as the “Döschwo” — is one of the best-known minimalist small cars in automotive history. Built from 1948 to 1990 in more than 5. 1 million examples, it evolved from a pure workhorse for rural people into a worldwide cult icon. The “2CV” stands for deux chevaux (French for “two horses”) and referred to the then-current French tax class.

In a hidden basement somewhere out in the countryside, something astonishing can be discovered. For many years, classic cars have been stored there under protective covers. Unfortunately, their owner passed away not too long ago. As a youngster, he had discovered his passion for cars and spent his spare time tinkering with them. Trained as a shopkeeper, he worked at a dealership in Zurich, which sparked his interest in vehicles from the Studebaker and Citroën marques. In the years that followed, he set up and successfully ran his own auto workshop.

In 1987, he bought a Citroën 2CV Special, putting it aside for later. The brand-new “Deux Cheveaux” has just 21 kilometres on the clock and is completely original right down to the air in the tyres.
