EXTERIOR
Arguably the ultimate evolution of the mid engine Ferrari the F355 Berlinetta is still a striking piece of design 25 years after its launch. With its steeply raked nose, deep side intakes and iconic pop up headlights the wedge shaped shaped silhouette was an instant classic that epitomised an era of flair and innovation at Maranello. In a rare and attractive shade of Grigio Titanio this cherished example presents in fantastic order with the metallic paintwork incredibly consistent throughout.
Rosso calipers, larger Fiorano brakes and the definitive Challenge grille from factory confirm the motorsport pedigree of this rare and attractive Berlinetta.
INTERIOR
Providing a perfect compliment to the Grigio bodywork, this example is upholstered in the alluring Bordeaux leather that features on the door cards, roll bar and extremely rare factory fitted carbon seats. The bucket seats are usually prone to wear but present in excellent condition with exemplary fit and finish whilst also offering a low slung driving position that provides fantastic support for both driver and passenger. Interior switchgear and plastics have just been refurbished and now compliment the fantastic condition of this carefully maintained cabin space.
Helping to keep the weight of the Berlinetta to a minimum the equipment list is basic but effective; electric windows, heated mirrors and the original radio unit provide the essentials for a long distance road trip or short weekend blast. Being mid-engine the storage space is at the front and provides adequate space for a couple of weekend bags, as well as housing the original leather tool kits that are still present with the car.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The major difference between the V8 engine in the 348 and 355 was the introduction of a 5-valve cylinder head; allowing better intake permeability and a considerably more powerful engine. A hoarse bark greets the starter before the engine settles to a deep, resonant idle and, when warmed up, the shrill noise of this Italian V8 is pure theatre and frankly an acoustic masterpiece. This example also benefits from the revered Fiorano handling pack; a carefully considered performance combination that features a wider track, stiffer springs, thicker anti-roll bars, uprated ECU, competition steering rack and larger brakes.
Having covered minimal mileage since inspection with a £3. 5k major service inclusive of cambelt the car sits in excellent mechanical health.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The classic 5 spoke Speedline wheels are in unmarked condition wrapped in a set of Yokohama Advan Sport tyres – all of which show plenty of tread.
The larger brakes perform as they should, with no adverse pitch, pull or drone. The Rosso calipers are free from chips or corrosion and further illustrate the careful road use of this wonderful example.
HISTORY FILE
As illustrated in the original service book this wonderful F355 was first registered by Testarossa Cars of Madrid in May of 1999 – one of the final cars produced.
The car covered a mere 2k miles whilst in Spain and enjoyed a regular servicing routine with 2 cambelt changes and 4 visits to the main dealer. The car then found a home in Germany in 2015 before arriving into the UK the following year and has remained with the same owner since. Again, the car has been used sparingly; having covered just 2k miles since purchase but with two further full inspections and cambelt changes. Pictures of the engine out and illustration of the outstanding condition of the car have been confirmed by marque specialist Tom Keys of Keys Motorsport.
With a wonderful colour combination, Carbon bucket seats and Fiorano Handling pack this low mileage F1 is one of the very best examples available today, Naturally, the original leather book pack, stamped service book and tool kit is present alongside a Ferrari owners club GB letter of authenticity, Maranello database spec sheet and all invoicing and advisory free MOT’s from it’s time in the UK.
