Completed on 23 May 1997, just four days after entering production, the car was specified in Rosso Corsa (DS322) with Crema hide (VM 3992) and dark red carpets—a combination that has become synonymous with Ferrari’s road cars of the period.
Following completion, it was delivered to Ferrari UK in Surrey before being supplied by Lancasters of Essex. First registered on 1 August 1997, the car carried a list price of £99, 457. 88, with the notable addition of a factory colour-coded removable roof panel (TOPC), a desirable option at the time.
The F355 GTS occupies a unique position within Ferrari’s lineage, combining the engagement of a manual gearbox with the versatility of a removable targa roof. Of the 360 manual GTS examples produced, relatively few remain registered in the UK today, lending cars such as this a quiet exclusivity.
Its ownership history reflects careful stewardship, passing through a handful of custodians before entering long-term ownership in 2007. Since then, it has been maintained with a clear emphasis on mechanical integrity and originality.
Work has been carried out predominantly by respected Ferrari specialist Rardley Motors, who have most recently completed a major engine-out service. This included renewal of the cam belts, spark plugs and fuel filter, alongside new Pirelli P Zero tyres, a full alignment, and a fresh MOT.
The car is accompanied by a substantial history file, including its original Ferrari service book with 26 stamps, handbooks, leather wallet, tool kit, and a collection of invoices documenting its maintenance over time. It also retains its removable roof panel and cover, while a factory-style Challenge rear grille has been fitted.
Presented in a classic specification, with consistent specialist care and recent major servicing, this F355 GTS represents a well-preserved example of a model increasingly regarded as one of Ferrari’s modern classics.
