Description
Reluctant sale of my Rover P5B coupe fitted with a fully rebuilt 3. 9 litre short engine with Piper Torquemax cam and Weber carb with Offenhauser inlet manifold in 2015.
I bought the vehicle in June 2021 from 2nd owner in Exmouth where he had found it sat in the garage of a local hotel.
Extensive restoration work carried out during previous ownership (2nd owner) who bought vehicle in 1986. I have an A4 folder filled with receipts dating from early 90s.
Light grey over burnt grey with saddle tan interior and genuine low mileage. Original owners maintenance manual stamped each year from 69-79 showing 36544miles on 20/ 4/ 79. Earliest MOT dated 14/ 03/ 86 showing 40765miles
I was told the original panels were repaired rather than replaced. All panels straight with no rust. Chrome excellent. Paint very good with some imperfections here and there.
The interior is very nice with a lot of the leather being replaced and a full set of quality carpets fitted approx 5yrs ago. The radio works. The tool tray is incomplete.
Probably, going by receipts, the last job done by/ for 2nd owner was to fit a new rear screen seal and this area needs tidying plus replacement of the chrome retaining strip.
During my brief ownership I have had the brake calipers stripped, dipped and fitted with s/ s pistons and brake fluid replaced plus engine oil and filter change and a gearbox 'pan' change.
2nd owner also replaced the original fuel pumps with an electric pump.
Once warmed up he runs well with plenty of power and is a real pleasure to drive. I had bought an early P5, dirt cheap, as a young man but really wanted the 'B' coupe so, having spent the last 40yrs running around in a motley collection of old cars i decided to treat myself 2yrs ago. Unfortunately, i'm having to sell now due to minor (so far!) health conditions but have enjoyed driving out with friends for lunch or dinner somewhere out in the countryside. Its also the 1st classic i've owned with an auto box!!. Of course, lots of waves, compliments etc and always somebody wanting to ask questions has made my brief ownership a pleasure
