A Lotus Esprit Turbo in the iconic colour of metallic Essex Blue with a half leather interior. The subject of a major mechanical overhaul, to include the engine, turbo, air conditioning, suspension, at a total cost in excess of £11, 000, all undertaken by marque specialists South West Lotus Centre. Invoices for the work undertaken are available for inspection.

In 2007, B125 AHM passed to its’ current owner, a well-known and respected member of the Lotus community, who bestowed upon the car many new parts including a clutch assembly and a complete new exhaust system, before enjoying it sparingly but regularly for a few years. It was then considered time to embark upon an engine refresh which soon became a larger than anticipated job and, sadly, stalled.
Following a period, therefore, of inactivity and immobility, I took the vehicle in part exchange and immediately sent it to South West Lotus Centre for their appraisal and repair. Fans of The Bangers & Cash TV series, will be aware of South West Lotus as they restored a Giugiaro Esprit for the programme just recently. Quickly realising that the engine had been incorrectly rebuilt, the decision was taken to start again, from the bottom up. Additionally, the opportunity was taken to refresh the turbo charger, most of the air conditioning componentry was renewed (and it now works), a suspension refresh was undertaken along with a comprehensive geometry check plus a huge amount more. The end result is a vehicle that is now mechanically as good as it possibly can be and is ready to, I am sure, give faultless service for the foreseeable future.
The interior trim was treated to some repairs of sun-damaged leather panels and a thorough clean of all fabric surfaces and the carpets was undertaken, resulting in a most presentable, if not perfect, finish.
The paintwork has been thoroughly cleaned and polished but has been left unattended to. There are no major cracks or crazing to the fibreglass but there are certainly some deficiencies to the paintwork with scuffs, scratches and other imperfections that have been acquired over time. The new owner may decide to address these immediately or to simply enjoy the vehicle the way it is for now.
Accompanying the vehicle is a huge file of bills and receipts going back to the early 1990’s, the original owners’ manuals and two workshop manuals. Current recorded mileage is 100500 (2750 per annum) and the MOT certificate is valid until March 2024, with both advisories subsequently attended to.
In summary, a super-useable example that may benefit from external cosmetic improvement if desired but is absolutely ready to use in the meantime. Any inspection is welcome and encouraged. The low price allows for the aforementioned paintwork, if desired, to be addressed. Do, however, feel free to try me with a near offer, once you have inspected the vehicle.
