A lovely little period saloon in excellent running condition. This little Austin has resided on a somerset Farm where it has done duty making occasisonal forays down tight country lanes to the local town. Whilst not being quite oily rag condition it has loads or patina & exudes originality & charm.
The car starts redily once the fuel is turned on & also the battery cut off switch located under the passengers seat is turned on. Surprisingly at 6ft 3" tall I am able to get behind the wheel & drive it provided I get my left knee past the steering column prior to the rest of me. Even more surprising was a GPS verified true 45MPH attained on a flat stretch of road going to our local photo field with iphone screenshot to prove it.
The interior is blue rexine to the seats front & rear with all being in really good condition. This is a Brass era Austin with Brass Radiator & Brass headlamps up front. The gear box is an easily mstered 3 speed 'box in reverse of todays H pattern. Two new tyres have recently been fitted. A large luggage grid folds down to the rear of the car where the spare wheel is also stowed. The windscrren folds open on a cantilver type latch allowing for a pleasant rush of cool air on hotter days.
The car starts readliy & pulls amazingly strongly given its diminutive size with the engine giving a stong charge. The car is finished in what seems to be original dark blue & black Paint with some age related cracks & crazing which frankly add to the cars appeal. Driving it is lots of fun as it goes at a slightly unseemly speed for its diminutive size & also stops well given that it is a linked brakes model. Having it at the house & finding reasons to run to the supermarket sum up its lovley charm. Vintage motoring at a budget price would sum it up.
