Description

Registered 1st April 1983 (and so one of the last of the Series III's), this beautiful 88” was manufactured in June 1982 so is now registered as “historic” and tax free.

The Heritage Certificate records the destination dealer as Henlys Ltd., Hereford and the vehicle retains not only the original dealer registration plates front & back, but also “Hereford Land & Range Rover Centre” sticker on the truck cab – with 3 digit telephone number!

I am the 6th owner of this vehicle. Apparently she spent the first 25 years of its life on a fruit farm in Hereford. Paperwork, shows ownership with a fruit farm (I suspect the original owner) in Ledbury in 2014 when she had covered 63, 506 miles.

This work, 13, 000 miles ago, is described as “Gearbox repairs and a clutch” (costing £2, 286). I would imagine this was a full gearbox rebuild, the gearbox is very quiet and, as you would expect, very smooth.

Similarly, the petrol engine runs nicely without any adverse noises and the vehicle is a real pleasure to drive.

As can be seen from the photos, this Land Rover has clearly had a cossetted life. She remains in lovely original condition, the paint is worn in places, she has some scratches, minor dents and has been repainted in places (door hinges), so now shows a lovely patina and is a vehicle one can be proud of, but also use and enjoy.

Although the rear plastic window of the tilt is good, the blue tilt itself is worn and has a couple of minor holes and tears. These are of course readily available, so this has not been replaced as the vehicle is garaged and the canvas is in keeping with the overall aesthetic of the vehicle. (Plus, I also think these truck cabs look nice as a truck cab only, without a tilt!)

She has had work in the past and the previous owner in particular invested time and money to ensure she remained in good condition.

The largest relatively recent job was a new rear crossmember, springs and shock absorbers which were fitted by the Haynes Motor Museum workshop in 2017.

A useful Exmoor trim centre cubby box has been fitted and there are numerous invoices relating to ongoing maintenance (hoses, track rod ends, etc) and improvements, including an exhaust system in Feb 2017 and new fuel tank in Oct 2020 , a Webber carburettor and electronic ignition with a Powersparks coil have also been fitted.

The annual mileage over the last few has low, and is as follows;
July 2018 72, 167
Aug 2019 73, 425
Aug 2020 74, 761
July 2021 76, 100
Aug 2022 76, 410

The current mileage is only 76, 674

This equated to an average of only 1, 816 miles per year since 1983, which is reflected in the overall condition of a carefully used vehicle!

The Land Rover is located near Beverley, East Yorkshire.
