The Car Barn are very pleased to offer this very special Lotus Elan M100 for sale.
It has been subject to a huge restoration over a number of years and is now finished and ready for sale.
The car was bought by it's current owner in the late 1990's who then sold it to the man who started it's restoration, it was then purchased back when the man who started the restoration unfortunately passed on.
Here are some of the details of some of the work that has been completed:
New body tub (One of the last produced by Lotus). This was cavity waxed in any voids and bonded metal components to avoid any corrosion issues in the future
The chassis was dismantled and rebuilt, either using the original parts or new replacement the backbone chassis component was replaced with a new unit.
All running gear was stripped, inspected and rebuilt to the highest possible standard
New steering rack
All brackets, body fittings and brake callipers stripped, re-zinc coated and painted where necessary
Headlamp pods rebuilt using all stainless-steel screws and all fittings cleaned and repainted
Brake system overhaul including: Callipers being refurbished and re-passivate coated. All new brake piping including flexible hoses. New discs and greenstuff pads.
New Lotus 'A' Pillar seals and carriers.
The interior retains the original and rare charcoal perforated full leather. New rare red Lotus supplied carpets.
Engine wise the car has a ported wastegate to ensure compatibility with the PECO exhaust system which removes the standard restrictive exhaust. All coolant hoses have been replaced with SAMCO Silicone hoses and it has new radiator. The belts, tensioner, water pump and idler bearings have been replaced.
All the wheels have been replaced with the very rare and sought after 16" OZ alloy items.
The hood is in excellent condition and all original with the clear rear window and good condition seals.
The previous owner lived in the highlands of Scotland and due to the rough nature of the roads up there, opted to fit US spec suspension which gives a raised ride height and softer ride.
