Description
We are delighted to be able to offer for sale this beautiful 1955 Jaguar XK140 FHC finished in British Racing Green with contrasting Suede Green trim. With just three former keepers, the last since 2000, the car is in lovely condition both bodily and mechanically.
According to the Production Record Certificate, this car was built on 21st June 1955. It is a UK RHD model with matching numbers fitted with factory overdrive. It was dispatched to Henlys in London on 4 July 1955.
This car was the subject of an extensive restoration in the 90's by the previous owner. The photographic records show considerable new panel-work, a full bare metal respray and retrim. All to the original factory specifications. Invoices in the files detail all of this work. Naturally, it has been cosseted since and this work is still fresh and extremely presentable.
The engine was rebuilt in 1993 with the invoices from WJ Engineering detailing a rebore to +60" among other extensive work.
In 2003, the last owner had a C-type cylinder head fitted by Ken Bell matched to a machined inlet manifold and a pair of 2" H8 sandcast SU carbs.
Sitting on slightly wider painted DB6 Mk2 Centre Lock Wheels and Pirelli tyres, she has a purposeful stance matched with improved road-holding. The exhaust note emitted from the the improved breathing of the C-type head makes you want to her to play her tune again and again.
We are selling this car on behalf of Will's Godmother on a commission sale basis. It has been part of the family for 23 years and must go to a good home.
Commission sales mean you are buying it from the owner and we are not offering it with a warranty.
You are welcome to view the car on one of our ramps and we are happy to work with any inspection you might wish to instruct.
Viewings by appointment only please. Call Alex or Will to find a mutually suitable date.
