Description

1926 Frazer-Nash Super-sports
BF 9729

If one thought of the ideal all round vintage car, several cars might spring to mind, but perhaps none more so, than the marque of Frazer-Nash! The makers, of some of the most well used and loved, vintage sportscars, with sleek proportions and chain drive, these famous sports-cars, continue to be as successful in competition today, as they were in period!

Offered here is a recently restored and re-built example, very nice in detail, with delightful super-sports coachwork and perfect for fast road work or ideally suited for vintage trials, with its torquey engine and lack of differential!

Built by VSCC Stalwart Dr Jonathan Rose of JR Vintage Services for the current owner, the original specification was to build a car suitable of winning both VSCC, MCC & ATC trials and driving the distances to compete.
Many original parts were sourced, along with new parts from the Frazer-Nash club, the coachwork has been beautifully built with an ash frame and aluminium panelling, the flowing wings, very much in-keeping with the proportions of original Super Sports coachwork.
Various engines have been fitted to Frazer-Nash cars over the years, from Anzani to Meadows and most in-between! A popular vintage engine is that of the Ford model A, robust and torquey, highly tuneable, with its large 3. 3 litre capacity, it makes an appealing choice and as such, was chosen for the car offered here, expertly re-built by Vintage Ford specialists Belcher engineering, it features a pressure fed crank, OHIV Riley heads, all leading to a performance, that is now, somewhat spectacular!
Recent works and improvements, have been carried out by marque specialist (and current VSCC president) Simon Blakeney-Edwards and his expert team at Edwards Motorsport, this included new stub axles, steering arms, front and rear drums and front hubs along with various other small jobs to enhance this beautiful car further.

Finished in a delightful light green with a satin sheen, the contrasting leather interior is beautifully trimmed, whilst the dashboard has a simple array of period, Smiths MA instruments, an original full windscreen and tonneau provide a little cabin protection.

Freshly built and now carefully shaken down on a couple of VSCC trials and recently set up, for mixed road and trials use, I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking to have some fun with the ?Chain Gang?, a perfect car to join the club on one of their renowned ?raids? through Europe.
A fast, comfortable car which could eat up the miles, a well sorted engine with easy parts and servicing and such lovely good looks, with VSCC buff form and Frazer-Nash dating papers, along with a current V5C, where will you take it, on its next adventures?
