Description
Just arrived, this lovely 1936 Standard Ten 4-door saloon. The original Standard Motor Company produced several cars named the Ten from 1906 to 1961. Standard may have a different meaning nowadays, but at the time it was recognised for its meaning of "setting the Standard"
This variant of the Standard Ten was introduced from 1934 and what it lacked in technical specification it made up for with value for money and longevity. For your £192 you got a car said to be capable of 60mph, yet well finished and with all the equipment you could hope for.
This lovely little Ten is a great starter classic. Just completed a 140 mile round trip with its last owner. It is finished in green and black with green leather and carpets.
Starts, runs and drives and handles well, exactly as it should. All the instruments work, even including the clock. 12v electrics with flashing indicators to complement the trafficators. Original interior has some wear but good for the year. The tyres are good, and it had had a very high quality repaint at some time.
Its not concours, there is some bubbling under the paint in places, but nothing that requires immediate attention. Perfect for club rallies, shows, or summer Sunday cruising. One of the nicest about.
Please carefully review the following points before considering the purchase of this Standard Ten as it is nearly 88 years old. By proceeding with the purchase, you acknowledge and accept the following terms and conditions:
I am in my 60's and I search out, buy and sell a few little gems like this as a hobby. I have described the car in good faith based on my own opinion, and the paperwork with it, together with information gleaned from the previous owner and multiple photographs. The car is sold in an "as-is" condition, without any warranties of any kind, expressed or implied. Please do not rely on documentation and recorded mileage as a definitive statement as to it suitability for you. There may be faults that are not immediately visible or apparent. The fact it still exists is testament to the fact of it having been cared for earlier in its life. It is entirely your responsibility to examine the car yourself.
This era of car will routinely require ongoing maintenance, tinkering and fettling, which is part of the charm of classic cars. The seller is not responsible for any maintenance, repairs, or restoration work needed after the sale. You are buying the car in its current state, and any future expenses related to repairs, maintenance, or improvements are your responsibility.
Once the sale is completed, there will be no refunds or returns accepted. This car is available for your own personal inspection.
Owning a classic car is great fun, but they do not drive anything like modern cars, as they are antiques, and in most respects very out-dated. Starting, driving, handling, braking and stopping are vastly inferior to 21st century cars, to say the least! I make no claims that the car is concours, but it is a driveable, enjoyable piece of motoring history to be used as it is or improved over time.
Most of these cars cover under 500 miles per year, and it is highly inadvisable to embark on a journey without first having tested it locally and becoming used to the general driving experience. Delivery to your door can be arranged at sensible cost and is recommended.
