Description

We are delighted to have this wonderful Bentley R Type back having spent ten years with one of our regular clients in the South East of England. This is a very special car with various selling points and whilst it retains an ultra-high level of originality, it was also subject of a top class full re-paint and re-chrome back in 2013. Ten years on, the Bentley still presents in outstanding external condition, and the upholstery is as it was, wonderfully original and commensurate with the cars recorded mileage of 81000. Further supporting the low mileage, we can confirm the car has makers oil pressure, perfect gear change, but it is the interior snd complete absence of any discernible axle noise which would convince anyone that this is a very well cared for, low mileage car.
Going through the comprehensive history, we know the Bentley was in dry storage from 1974 to 1989 and then lightly re-commissioned with new master cylinder rubbers, wheel cylinders, front brake hoses, new brake linings, new servo lining, new tyres, coolant hoses, exhaust and major service. The Bentley was then MOT tested with 72, 773. The car was back on the road in ultra original condition, but re-commissioned and the suggestion of 72733 miles from 1954 to coming off the road in 1974 would seem realistic based on the cars condition. From 1990 to coming to us in 2013, the Bentley covered a further 5000 miles and a superb record of maintenance throughout the 1990's and 2000's is with the car. Our long term customer has covered almost 3000 faultless miles over the last ten years and has attended many shows and events in the South East of England.

Since the cars wonderful re-paint and re-chrome, the recent long term owner has continued to look after the Bentley well, spending a further £9000 on the car. Invoices are on file for new weather strips, various new rubber seals, new boot handle, new mudflaps, new coolant hoses, a new set of Avon Turbospeed tyres, work to the front suspension, regular servicing and painting coachlines to the body and wheel trims. Prior to us selling the car in 2013, it had been with its previous owner in Scotland for 12 years, invoices are on file for almost £8000 of maintenance with Milford Vintage Engineering Ltd and Alastair Scott Services - Bentley specialists. During the early 1990's after its re-commissioning the Bentley was owned by Hexagon of Highgate and a comprehensive file of invoices from London Bentley specialists P. J Fischer Classic Automobiles for extensive maintenance.

TMB 177 is a striking looking, very sharp example that does not look out of place on the show scene. The bodywork, paintwork and chrome are beautifully presented and the largely original upholstery is wonderful with a lovely level of patina. On the road TMB 177 is delightful, the 4566cc engine pulls superbly offering impressive performance, the automatic gearbox perfectly smooth and the Bentley glides along with a high level of luxury and class. This is a high quality example, it still retains an impressive level of originality and the cosmetic work carried out ten years ago has held up superbly, the car presenting in first class, showroom condition. This is a beautiful car, it does not disappoint and is clearly a very special, well preserved car that has had money spent in all the right areas.
