We are pleased to offer for sale this rare 1 previous keeper, 1971 Mk1 Ford Escort van 6-cwt.
DESCRIPTION
The Mk 1 Ford Escort was introduced into the UK at the end of 1967, Making its show debut at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1968 and replacing the successful long running Anglia. The Escort became successful as a rally car and eventually went on to become one of the most successful rally cars of all time. The Ford Escort Mk 1 was launched in January 1968 and the Van version followed in April using all new panel work except for the rear doors, which were carried over from the Anglia-based vans. A lowly 1298cc 'Kent' cross flow engine provided the power for this 6cwt version.
EXTERNAL
This Mk 1 Ford Escort van presents in beautiful condition with panels as Ford intended straight, uniformed and ultimately glossy, With Ford Light Grey(colour code BC) paintwork in immaculate condition. With rear barn doors taken from its predecessor the Ford Anglia with chrome works door handles opening and closing impeccably. Front and rear bumpers sit straight along with original headlamps and indicators this also can be said for the rear lights all factory original.
INTERNAL
With a simple yet fully functional interior in what can be only described as collectors condition, Boasting front seats permanently fixed to the shell finished in black vinyl in spotless condition, The spare wheel sits neatly behind the passenger yet tucked under the rear loading floor. Black flooring in as good condition as the day it left the factory, With Aeroflow facia vents, heater controls, Windscreen Wiper Control, Choke Control, Double large binnacle housing speedometer and fuel gauge, Light switch, Headlamp flasher/ direction indicator and horn all in excellent condition, Dashboard sits as ford intended crack free along with the 3 pointed steering wheel showing minimal wear.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Under the bonnet houses the Ford 4-cylinder 1098cc in-line overhead valve with cross flow head producing 55hp, Absolutely standard as Ford intended. Having only 35086 miles on it from new. With an Autolite Single Venturi Downdraught Carburettor fitted to the engine that's mated to a four speed all synchromesh gearbox which slips into gear as ford intended. With attention to detail with the underside as glossy as the outside.. Truly amazing!
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Sitting on original pressed steel disc asymmetrical wheel base rims being shod with 4. 50c x 12 or 145 R12 Dunlop SP6 tyres on all four corners. Having hydraulically operated drum brakes all round being the 6cwt version.

This Mk1 Ford Escort Van’s simply amazing, With being the 6 cwt with original vin plate under the bonnet retaining its originality, Having the original service pack stamped and owners operators manual, Stamped Date of delivery 12th December 1968 to Burchell & Blackburn from Lincolnshire Motor Co Ltd(Ford dealership) however not registered until the 10th June 1971, Having one previous keeper this has to be one of the last out in existence in this condition. Having been lovingly restored back to its original Ford Light Grey colour inside and out you are taken back to the very early seventies, Everything remains original down to the original metal black and silver plates fitted from factory. This example will sit proud of place in any collectors showroom.
