- The Alfa Romeo 8C 2300, the masterpiece of Italian engineer Vittorio Jano, was one of the first racing cars (Monza version) to be civilised and fitted with haute-couture bodywork, so that it could be offered to a few wealthy customers for use 'in town'; the Spider Touring is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of this highly confidential production
- The Argentinian firm Pur Sang is now world-renowned for the quality of its replicas, mainly of Bugatti Grand Prix cars, which are very close to the original model ; combining craftsmanship with a high degree of engineering, it has also worked on the contemporary Alfa Romeo masterpiece of the Bugatti Grand Prix: the 8 C
- While most Pur Sang 8C replicas are Monza (racing version, with or without wings), the Argentinian craftsmen also marketed a few rare Touring-inspired Spider Cortos, including the example that illustrates these pages, enabling lucky enthusiasts to afford an Alfa 8C 2300 short-chassis for a fraction of the price of a genuine one, now worth several million euros...
