EXTERIOR
To think the first 928’s appeared in the late 70’s is quite the surprise considering how well the design has survived; especially true of this example presented in a unique shimmering metallic of Granite Green. Panel fit is straight and true with lights, trim and seals upholding excellent integrity and shape; given the fact that this example has had just 2 private owners from new it has clearly been cherished from day one.
Free from stone chips and with a deep lustre the car presents in first class condition and is without question the finest 928 we have had the pleasure of bringing to market.
INTERIOR
This particular car has a matching Grey Green leatherette interior which really marks this cabin from the rest with a true era specific colourway. The leather seats provide excellent support and are free from rips and tears with just some age related creases on the drivers bolster as you would expect. The rear seats are also in excellent condition and provide cocooning accommodation for smaller passengers, with rather unique rear sun visors to protect necks from the large heated rear glass screen. The glass at the rear not only defines the look of the car but also gives the interior a wonderful feeling of space allowing this Porsche to truly fulfill its continent crossing GT role.
The original Blaupunkt stereo provides a great sound though you may will be tempted to dip the electric windows or crack open the electric sunroof to enjoy that delightful V8 rumble.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Boasting 4 valves per cylinder and Bosch fuel injection this 928 surges forward on a wave of torque making progress truly effortless.
Having had a transmission fluid flush and replacement with Porsche Brooklands just a few hundred miles ago, the 4-speed automatic box is smooth and precise pulling through all the gears as you would expect.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Sitting on the correct 16 inch alloys the wheels really capture the spirit of the era and are presented without any marks on the rim. New Contisport rubber adorns all four corners.
A brake fluid service was completed by Porsche Brooklands in November of 2022 and the car pulls up to a stop in sharp straight line with no adverse pitch or pull.
HISTORY FILE
Originally supplied by Cooper Exeter Ltd in March of 1988 this exquisite S4 would cover a majority of it’s 19k miles early on in it’s life.
The car would complete it’s first complimentary service with Cooper’s in April of ’88 at 1, 072 miles before subsequent visits to AFN Guildford in ’92 and ’94. The oil and filter was then changed, alongside a front tracking adjustment, with marque specialists RSR Engineering in 1996 at 14, 343 miles. The car would reside with it’s first owner and would be carefully stored all the way up until 2016 before finding a new owner with just 18, 500 miles on the odometer.
The new owner would then send the car to Chelsea Carrera of High Wycombe for an open cheque book inspection and service to the tune of £2, 5k which included a belts and water pump replacement, torque tube adjustment, wheel alignment and fluids service. Further to this and with minimal mileage covered, OPC Brooklands have replaced the radiator and associated pipework, performed a full transmission fluid flush / replacement and performed a major service inc plugs and brake fluid.
The book pack is complete with all original literature from new, alongside the original service book, a well as spare keys and a Certificate of Authenticity. For peace of mind the car will be supplied with 12 months MOT upon sale.
