This lovely Ford has to be one of the most original and untouched examples remaining. If bright and shiny and restored are your thing, then this will not be the car for you. However if you prefer them showing their age but at the same time extremely good examples, then please read on.
It’s not often they come along like this. So the Ford was purchased new on 29th April 1937 from Ebisons of Woking by local lady Mrs Nellie Fraser. Amazingly she could not drive, so she employed a chauffeur to drive it for her. It was kept in her ownership until she passed away in 1974.
On the sale of her estate the car was transported to Mays Motorswhere it was given a full inspection. It was subsequently bought by the trustees and a new engine was fitted by a Mr John Mead, who was the mechanic who looked after it for Mrs Fraser. In 2006 he sold it a Mr Rob Broadway in Frome Somerset. It was the. Passed to another local gentleman in 2008, whom we have just bought it from, so it is incredibly low ownership in its 87 years. The displayed mileage of 52517 is verified as correct by the previous owner. The history file is extensive including lots of old tax discs, mot certificates, receipts and even the original Ford instruction book and buff log book
It is running and driving superbly and is probably the nicest of these small fords I have driven. The bodywork is absolutely sound, no rot anywhere and no signs of any previous damage, filler or anything. The paintwork is aged and slightly dull. There is surface rust on top of wings and bonnet as can be seen in pictures. The laminate on windscreen has aged as can be seen. The interior is a nice place to be. All the Bakelite dash is in near perfect condition as are the Bakelite on doors. Seats are again aged but in fair condition. Even the string operated rear window blind is still intact. The only upgrade is the fitting of direction indicators, but this has been done without damaging the bodywork or bumpers.
This little Ford is ready to jump in and drive and we would hope the next owner will keep it exactly as it is.
