So if you’re thinking of a road trip on a classic BMW Airhead this season, this just may be the bike for you.
This is a 1989 BMW R100RT, with only three previous owners, and with the chap that i acquired it from having owned it for 25 years.
It’s always a bit special to be offered someone’s pride and joy, and this particular Airhead has a history file that fully supports the care and attention that has been lavished on it over the years. A UK registered bike from new, with a raft of MOT certificates supporting the very reasonable mileage. Invoices over the years reflect important Airhead maintenance, including pro gearbox rebuild, (Roger Bennet) ignition system overhaul, (trigger unit, amplifier, leads, etc all replaced) charging system overhaul ( alternator, rotor, Motobatt battery, and high output diode board) top ends refreshed with stainless pushrod tubes, carbs fully re built, etc, etc. I’ve rarely seen such a detailed history file.
Being one of the post ‘84 monoshock bikes, it benefits from improved brakes (twin Brembo up front) and upgraded cast discs. The rear shock has also been upgraded to a Hagon unit. Again, being a later bike, it benefits from a full stainless exhaust system, and many options, including crash bars, LED running lights, clock and voltmeter, and three piece factory luggage set. Tyres are modern Avon Roadrider with loads of tread.
This really is a bike that has wanted for nothing, and is off the button, ready to go……….. anywhere! A fresh MOT will be on the bike at point of sale.
