At the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, Lamborghini presented the highly exotic Reventón. As with all Lamborghini models, the name Reventón was chosen in line with the tradition of the house, to honour a fighting bull. Reventón was a famous bull belonging to the Don Rodriguez family, known for having killed a well-known torero by the name of Felix Guzman in 1943. Like its namesake, the Lamborghini Reventón has earned its place in history as one of the most legendary supercars. Batmobile at heart, the Lamborghini blurs the lines between automobile and aircraft, a fighter aircraft of course.
The Reventón is based on the Murciélago LP640, then the marque's most prestigious supercar and a worthy descendant of the Diablo and other Countach. Reused from the LP640, the indefatigable Bizzarini V12, all aluminium and with dual overhead camshafts of 6, 496 cm3 is equipped with four valves per cylinder and a variable valve timing system. In the Reventón, this engine produces no less than 650 hp at 8, 000 rpm, which is 10 more than the Murciélago. This legendary V12 is capable of 0 to 60 mph in just 3. 4 seconds and can reach speeds of 205 mph. The four-wheel drive chassis remained unchanged and the Reventón was fitted with the six-speed E-gear transmission. A combination of carbon fibre, steel and aluminium were used for the chassis/ shell. The independent four-wheel suspension has double wishbones, electric adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers and anti-roll bars, while braking is worthy of an Airbus, with no fewer than four ventilated disks with a diameter of 380 mm (by 38 deep) gripped by six-piston callipers.
Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S. p. A. said: "The Reventón is the most extreme car in the world: a true automotive superlative. Our designers at the Lamborghini Style Centre took the technical base of the Murciélago LP640 and compressed and intensified its DNA, its genetic code,".
While designing the Reventón, Manfred Fitzgerald, Lamborghini's director of brand and design, took his team to a European NATO base for inspiration. During their trip, the team members were unanimously seduced by the design of the F-22 Raptor, a single-seater tactical stealth fighter aircraft. Back at the factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese, they got to work...
The paint finish adds to the car's fighter aircraft look. The new shade is described as a mid opaque green/ grey "without the usual shine". The finish is matt, but thanks to the addition of metallic particles to the paint, the car can be surprising in certain lights. Among numerous other remarkable details: the wheel rims. Carbon fibre fins are screwed onto each of the rims' aluminium spokes. True to the philosophy of the marque, the fins are not only stylish, they also act as turbines, ensuring proper cooling of the solid carbon brakes. LEDs are used for the rear lights, with all the artistic freedom that this allows. The total aircraft look continues right down to the design of the fuel tank cap.
The interior offers a mixture of high-quality materials such as Alcantara, carbon, aluminium and full grain leather. But the aeronautical feel takes on even greater significance... Evo magazine explains: "As usual it's the interior that's arguably the star of the show with the cutting-edge, strike-fighter themes perhaps even more stunningly resolved than the exterior's. Instead of dials, the dash has aircraft-style multi-mode liquid crystal displays set in a housing milled from solid aluminium billet shrouded in a carbon fibre casing. The driver can choose from three vehicle information settings and, at the press of a button, switch from a digital to an analogical display with classic circular instruments. There's even a G-force meter" A real space-time capsule! Moreover, the price had skyrocketed because the Reventón retailed in 2008 at €1, 196, 000, that is, no more and no less than the price of a Bugatti Veyron...
In Grigio Reventón with a two-tone Nero Perseus and Verde Olivia interior, this extremely rare supercar, the 19th of 20 produced, was delivered new in Switzerland, to European specifications, by Lamborghini Affolter SA, Svizzera. It has since had only two owners and, with only 4, 864 kilometres covered since leaving the factory, is in very good condition. It will be sold with its military bag, an original Lamborghini accessory numbered 19, and its Swiss registration document.
