Ducati’s answer to the burgeoning adventure bike market comes in the form of the Multistrada. Whilst Ducati may be better known for its blisteringly fast superbikes, it has been known to successfully ride in the tyre tracks of great adventure bike manufacturers like KTM and BMW.
The Multistrada as a model has existed in one form or another since the early 2000s, more often than not they utilise components derived from pre-existing models. They continued in the late noughties when Ducati launched the Multistrada 1200 and 1200S.
The new Multistrada would utilise a detuned version of the engine found in the 1198 superbike, thus creating a bike that benefitted from more comfort and rideability, but retaining some of the immense pace available to superbike riders.
This particular example is a 2010 Multistrada 1200 S Touring. The bike is finished in a traditional Ducati red shade, the fairing is all in good shape, and there are no cracks, scrapes or damage. The bike has only had 2 previous owners (3 total) all of whom have clearly cared for it very well. The bright red finish is accented by an assortment of contrasting black trim, as well as gold-anodised Ohlins suspension, and silver Brembo brakes. The upright riding position makes for a comfortable experience, for long and short journeys alike.
Being the Touring edition, the bike has the Ducati OEM Panniers and Top Box fitted. All in great condition. The bike also has a Quad Lock charging/ USB phone mount on the handlebars for those long adventures ahead.
At launch, the Multistrada was heralded by the press for its impressive rideability. So much so that Motorcycle News claimed the Multistrada “could well be the best-suited bike to the nasty state of UK roads” thanks no doubt to its Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes but also the DVT, or Desmodromic Variable Timing. Ducati’s answer to VTEC, is a way to keep torque high at lower RPMs. Traction control, wheelie control and ABS all make appearances and further increase the bike's appeal.
The 1198cc engine produces 160BHP and 100lbs/ ft of torque, more than enough for a bike that weighs 235kgs. As a newer model, the Multistrada S benefits from a full-colour digital dash, that displays information such as coolant temperature, gear indicator, speed and RPMs. This dash was replaced under warranty at around 10, 000 miles (a common fault on these) and the new odo currently reads 12, 465.

Multistrada, or Many Roads in English, that is exactly what this bike is for. Well suited for long cross-continental trips, or even as a city bike offering riders excellent comfort across the rough and tumble of narrow streets.
