For Sale '75 "Amazing" Westfalia RHD Oxford Continental-
Oh my goodness, how lucky are we?
We've steadily built Resto Haus up to what it is today & feel so privileged, to be asked to sell the vehicles that we do. One such example is this absolutely superb & extremely rare Westfalia model. It's known as the "Oxford", Continental, not to be confused with the more common Continental.
We believe the Oxford was only produced in L90D Pastel White or L90D Pastel White over L20B Brilliant Orange. The interior is always in the gorgeous Westy orange plaid fabric with matching orange curtains & carpets , which really stands out against the normal Continental mustard coloured fabric. What makes this bus even more special is that all of the fabrics are totally original! In fact, when the current owner bought it from the 1st owner, it still had plastic covers on the fabric.
On the 2nd August 1975 , Mr Brian Stephenson, from Cambridge purchased , this rare model from Birch's Garage Ltd, his local main Volkswagen dealer. We have the original order form which included "Seat belts £12. 00, Front & Rear Mudflaps £9. 78, Michelin Tyres £55. 00, Push Button Radio £38. 75 & Tent £69. 45". The original service book & some receipts are still with the bus. We also have the extremely rare instruction manual is present, which titles "Continental", but clearly shows the Oxford interior within. The Oxford is more akin to the LHD "Malaga", but in a RHD body, so a mirror image.
You'll see in the interior pictures the Oxford has a 2 ring gas burner on the top of the cabinet by the sliding door, below this is a drawer & cool box below. It still has the fold up shelf with spice rack next to the door . The cabinet opposite has the slim sink, cupboards below & the wardrobe to the side. The swing out , extendable table is ingenious & together with the original stool 5 people can sit around the table. This model boasts a full width rock'n'roll bed & a twin hard base bunk in the elevating roof, so with the addition of the cab bunk its a full 5 birth camper van.
Mr Stephenson garaged his prized possession from day one & used it sparingly throughout its life & only sold it after 48 years to Alan the current owner. It now has just 71, 346 original miles on it. It comes with a sunshade which cost £400, a new battery, stainless steel exhaust system (£425), new Michelin tyres (£750) .
Alan has continued to care for it beautifully , once again indoors. Most recently our trusted friends at "Herbie Hospital", have been employed to service and mot the bus.
