Description
** DEPOSIT RECEIVED** Franklins Sports and Classics specialise in the sale and service of Lotus Elise Series 1 & 2 cars and are delighted to offer this 1999 Lotus Elise S1 finished in metallic spice yellow over green and yellow hide seats and black soft top. Last owner for over 10 years with 56, 000 miles and a fantastic service history from some of the best in the business including Bell & Covill, Westover Lotus, Oakmere and PJS Sports Cars.
Before we get into the nitty gritty of this advert, this Elise is mechanically top notch and drives absolutely on the button, but if you are perfectionist when it comes to bodywork this is not the car for you. “Why” I hear you ask. Put simply there is localised osmosis around the car, which from a few yards away is unnoticeable, but upon closer scrutiny you will see tiny wee spots here and there (especially on the engine cover).
So, to save you wasting your time and being disappointed we are being upfront, HOWEVER, if you are not a weekend polisher and more interested in the driving (after all that’s what Lotuses are for), then this car is worthy of your full attention. Let’s start with the service history – (warning long list ahead)

So, as you can see from the above, she has always been loved. The last service was carried out by renowned Lotus experts PJS sports cars in 2024. This was a belt and braces exercise including cambelt, water pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, gearbox linkages etc… together with a host of other minor jobs bringing the final bill to a shade under £3000. 00
She is fitted with a Janspeed sports exhaust and K&N induction kit so this car sounds fantastic whist the ride and handling have been improved dramatically with the fitment of the later Bilstein shock absorbers as found on the series 2 cars. The last tick in the box will be a new set of tyres, as whilst the current set are like new, they are out of date. The new owner will be able to choose their desired brand (within reason) and the price of these is included in the full sales price. We will also carry out a service, attend to any other issues we find and carry out a new MOT just before collection.
With the car comes a huge history file, original hand books / service books and MOT’s dating back to the ark of the covenant, so if browsing paperwork is your thing you won’t be disappointed.
As always we are happy for you to inspect the car on our ramp and have a chat with our tame Lotus mechanic Bradley, and a decent test drive is on offer to serious customers.
We usually sell immaculate Elises, but this car was too good to turn down. We seriously considered having a full repaint carried out but decided to offer the car “as is” at a sensible price point.
The car comes supplied with a Motor Check certificate confirming the car is HPI clear and the milage verified.
Part Exchange Welcome.

Footnote: Naturally there is always the option to have a full respray, which we are happy to arrange using our favourite body shop who understands how to paint fibreglass correctly, and they will make her perfect for you, but that will add a fair chunk of money to the purchase price.
