This early four door Range Rover was supplied in 1982, the second year of four door factory production and was sold when new by main dealer Reigate Garages in Surrey as indicated in the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate which is on file. The original production card also on file confirms it was fitted with the comfort option pack comprising rear and tailgate carpet, centre console and wood door cappings, along with the desirable power steering option.
The car passed through various owners as noted in the DVLA record sheets before ending up with a collector in 2016 who clearly had a project in mind. He wanted to create a classic Range Rover with great performance that could be used every day with a truly bespoke feel. Fortunately, he went to the right people, Twenty Ten Engineering who have gained a great reputation for their high quality of engineering and subtle visual approach to their upgraded classic Range Rovers. To this end £47, 000 was spent as detailed in invoicing and illustrated in a photographic album to create this dream, the most significant changes were the brand new 3. 9 litre V8 high performance engine replacing the standard low compression 3. 5 V8 unit, complete rebuild and bespoke leather interior.
I bought the car from the owner who commissioned this work in 2018 and sold it without marketing to a regular Hairpin customer with a great collection who has a particular soft spot for this model. He returned the car to Twenty Ten and has further enhanced its condition and specification which again is fully documented in extensive invoicing amounting to some £44, 000. Every aspect of the car has been improved as anyone viewing and driving it would plainly see. This Rangie is finished to a far higher standard than they were when new and it drives way better than the original ever did.
A great example of the classic Range Rover enhanced tastefully and available for sensible money.
