Designed as a saloon with a central engine, it had a tubular chassis that was very easy to 'prepare' for a sporting vocation in racing. Marketed in November 1975 under the name Montecarlo written in Italian, in homage to Lancia's countless victories in the famous rally, the engine was an evolution of Fiat's two-litre engine with two overhead camshafts developing 118 bhp. It was the silhouette of the car that attracted the most attention. The styling was perfectly mastered, with a compact appearance and angular shapes in keeping with the Italian fashion of the time. This strict two-seater received nothing but praise for its road-holding characteristics at high speeds, braking and acceleration worthy of a big GT.
