A superbly restored example of Alfa Romeo’s legendary GT coupe.
The Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV (Gran Turismo Veloce) is a classic Italian sports coupe produced from 1971 to 1976 as the final and most refined evolution of the 105-series cars. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone, the GTV is admired for its sleek styling, sharp handling, and rev-happy twin-cam engine. The 2000 GTV featured a larger 2. 0-litre engine, improved brakes, and more luxurious interior trim, making it one of the most desirable vintage Alfa Romeos today.
This particular car is a beautifully restored UK-market, right-hand drive example, originally registered in June 1972. Finished in its factory-correct Rosso Alfa with a reupholstered black leather interior, it has covered only around 1, 450 miles since a comprehensive restoration. The car has been kept in a climate-controlled garage when not in use.
Between 2017 and 2018, Alfa Romeo specialist VeloceSport carried out a full, photo-documented restoration. This included a complete engine rebuild, restored twin carburettors, overhauled gearbox, and new suspension featuring Koni shock absorbers. The braking system was rebuilt, a new clutch system was installed, and the fuel and cooling systems were refreshed. The bodywork was fully refurbished with a new bonnet, boot, and bumpers, and it was repainted in Rosso Alfa. Chrome, trim, and glass were all renewed. The underside was undersealed and treated with Waxoyl for long-term protection.
Inside, the car features a reupholstered black leather interior, a wood-trimmed dashboard, a Hellebore three-spoke steering wheel, Jaeger gauges, and new carpeting. A small crack in the original dash is the only noted flaw. It rides on period-correct 14-inch GTA-style alloy wheels fitted with Kumho tyres.
Factory features include a heated rear screen, push-out quarter windows, and manual window winders. The most recent service included an oil change, brake fluid replacement, and a new brake light switch. The last MOT showed no advisories.
This Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV is supplied with its V5C logbook, restoration photographs, service invoices, and an owner’s manual. A rare and immaculately restored example of Alfa’s golden-era GT, it’s perfect for collectors, classic car shows, or weekend drives through the countryside.
