1972 MG Midget RWA (Round Wheel Arch) in very good all-round condition with a super solid underside showing no welded repairs, running and driving absolutely spot on, it’s a really good looker, smooth sporty lines helped by the optional hood down and a great colour combination.
The 1275cc engine starts very easily and runs well, pulling strongly through all the gears, it stops very well with upgraded front disc brakes and is steady at speed with no wandering or vagueness of any kind the steering wheel is rock steady and if you press the “go” pedal hard it’s quick at getting up to the speed limit.
Under the bonnet is well presented and tidy, showing signs of recent and regular service, we have checked all the fluids for correct level and contamination and there's no breathing from the oil cap or spitting at the dipstick when running, see the video, still has excellent oil pressure when warm. The odometer is showing 78648 miles, but we can’t confirm.
The interior is very smart, the seats have been upgraded to leather, everything is smart and intact, no damage or wear and absolutely every switch, dial, clock and gauge work correctly, original steering wheel and very presentable dashboard with a couple of working extra clocks, seat belts fitted, very tidy carpet set, it’s a sung place to get comfy for some motoring adventures.
Both doors, boot and bonnet open, click shut and lock, the windows wind down, the quarter light vents twist, the side lights, head lights, fog light, horn, heater fan, wiper, washers, fog light, interior light, boot light, all work. The hood is free from any rips, splits or damage and fits snugly, fastening on every pop button, the windows are very clear with no cracks, the hood frame is in very good order, the hood down cover again fits snugly on every fastener.
The paintwork is very presentable, there are a few tiny imperfections that will be found on very close inspection on just about every panel, it’s not immaculate, that said it wants nothing doing to enjoy it. Bright work is all good, not new and slightly aged with some
It’s completely solid underneath, the sill’s, floor pans, jacking points, chassis legs are solid, there are no signs of welded repairs anywhere underneath, we have had it 6ft in the air, see the pics and video for a full underside tour, any inspection welcome. The car is running a matching set of nearly new tyres with a good spare and tools in the boot.
We have the full current logbook and several older logbooks, registered 1st Aug 1972, current owner since 2017 and only 7 in total, two sets of keys, a history files containing masses of invoices and old MOTS, the car has clearly been cherished, its HPI clear and the car is TAX and MOT and comes with a hardback workshop manual.
Draw out of your boring ISA, get out the picnic hamper and go and enjoy your hard earned savings, you still have a car to sell if you want to cash in later and you will be making memories instead of a pittance of interest.
