The Renault 25 Baccara, a true showcase of French expertise in large prestige road cars, is the perfect embodiment of the top of the range in the 80's and 90's, combining luxury, comfort and power in a sober and elegant design. Positioned at the top of the Renault range, and produced in only 2700 units, the V6 Turbo Baccara was the fastest French saloon of its time. It offered a level of refinement rarely seen in a front-wheel-drive car, while retaining a strong character thanks to its 205bhp V6 Turbo engine.
A direct competitor to BMW's 5 Series, Mercedes' W124 and Audi's V8, the R25 Baccara rivalled the best German cars of the time, while offering a resolutely French on-board experience, with a wealth of equipment and a new voice synthesis system. The model we are presenting here was delivered new to the Renault dealership in Saône on 24/ 04/ 1991 and today has 197, 300 km on the clock. It is in remarkable condition, reflecting meticulous maintenance, as evidenced by its service book and a large file of invoices covering more than 20 years. Mechanically, the 2. 5L V6 Turbo engine works perfectly, with crisp revs, good mid-range thrust and excellent driveability. The exhaust system is in excellent condition, having already been replaced by a new original system a few years ago, offering a muffled but expressive V6 sound that is perfectly balanced for a sporty grand tourer. The chassis is sound and well balanced, and the suspension provides a very high level of comfort, while maintaining excellent stability at high speeds.
The running gear is also in very good condition, with no abnormal play. The steering is precise, and the power steering works perfectly, without affecting the driving feel. The 16-inch RM BBS wheels are in excellent condition, and the tyres are also in very good condition. The paintwork has a very nice sheen. The underpinnings are free of any corrosion and are in generally very good condition, as is the rest of the vehicle. The interior, in full-grain amber leather, is in magnificent condition. The upholstery is supple and comfortable, with a slight patina that gives it a charm that we appreciate. The dashboard is intact, with no cracks or wear, like the rest of the interior, and all the electronics function normally. The original steering wheel shows no noticeable wear.
