Description
IT'S ONLY when you step back into time behind the wheel of a Mark 1 Mini 850cc that you realise - or in my case remember - just what a sensational little car it was. Here we have a Mark 1 badged as a Morris 850 and exported from new to South Africa. Hence the incredible condition with a shell that appears never to have been welded. It's mega rare as it still carries its original sills and sub frames, all of which are in excellent condition. It has been in the UK for just two years and thus remains totally rot and rust free. Look down the roof gutters for example and you will see perfect metal displaying all the original spot welds. Take a look at the engine bay photos and the pictures of both the underside and the sparkling interior. The speedo reads 31, 000 miles and she drives like a new Mark 1 Mini with bags of poke and proper brakes that stop the car.
Just oodles of fun and, remember. This is not a restored car with repro sills and so on. It is original. Note the tiny white speedo (early style) and the sliding windows with the chrome catches prior to them becoming black plastic. Other much loved Mark 1 features are the magic wand gear stick and the starter button on the floor!
The best Mark 1 that I have come across and so much fun on the road. I am told that some South African exports left the UK with different colour schemes. Well this lemon and white certainly works to my eye and what an eye catcher this Mini is.
Viewing is welcome and I can assist with delivery. I am Martin (Martin Howey Classics. Est 26 years). the details below.
