2004 Porsche Boxster 550 Spyder Anniversary Edition finished in metallic GT Silver over dark grey natural leather and black soft top.
The Boxster 550 Spyder Anniversary Edition was built to commemorate 50 years of the legendary 550 Spyder which was originally launched in October 1953. This limited edition model received a host of unique additional features over the standard Boxster S making it highly collectable, and in our opinion the ultimate 986 Boxster.
Approximately 150 - 550 Spyder Anniversary Editions were designated for the UK from a worldwide production run of 1953 units, and the plaque on the dashboard confirms our car is number 1517 of the limited production run.
Powered by the legendary flat 6 engine, power was increased to 266bhp giving excellent performance with the 0 -60 sprint being dispatched in just 5. 7 seconds and a top speed of 165mph. The manual gear change was improved with the fitment of a short shift linkage reducing travel by 15% giving a wonderfully fast and direct gearchange.
To compliment the mechanical upgrades the engineers at Zuffenhausen fitted the M030 sports suspension package reducing the ride hight by 10mm and adjusting the damping and spring rates to produce a sharper and more driver focused chassis.
Porsche brakes have always been regarded as the best in the business and the drilled with the vented discs have a diameter of 318mm at the front and 299mm at the rear giving prodigious stopping power. Exclusively for this special edition, the four piston monobloc brake callipers are finished in an aluminium paint finish, whilst the unique 18” Carrera wheels have silver outer rims and seal grey centre spokes.
As well as the GT Silver paint finish and two-tone alloy wheels, visually the 550 anniversary received colour coded front air grills in the lower front bumper, colour coded grill openings to the rear wings, chrome lettering to the Boxster S boot badge, colour coded roll over hoops and a unique stainless steel exhaust tip finisher, which on this car is attached to an almost new Danks sports exhaust back box.
The equipment level for the 550 anniversary was also enhanced over the standard car with the fitment of Litronic headlights, sports seats with unique perforated leather finish to the centre panels, colour coded seat back shells, heated seats, colour coded centre panel and hand brake surround, a ball shaped aluminium gear knob and lastly the instruments are uniquely styled with black faces surrounded by chrome decorative rings
Originally supplied by Porsche centre Colchester on the 26th July 2004, this car has only had 4 owners from new and clearly been cherished throughout its life.
The stunning GT Silver paintwork is in fine order with a deep gloss finish and without any scratches, dents or corrosion, whilst the black electrically operated soft top fits snuggly and operates perfectly. Likewise the multi spoke alloy wheels are in excellent condition having recently been professionally powder coated in the correct factory finish and are wrapped in a matching set of Porsche approved N3 Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.
The interior is in equally fine order with blemish free dashtop, an unworn steering wheel and leather sports seats that remain stain and mark free.
