LOTUS EXCEL RARE FINAL EDITION MODEL. restyled in 1989 for last couple of yrs of production, following the restyle of the Esprit.
Only a few of these later cars made. Featuring different wheels bonnet front airdam rear spoiler and some minor trim, engine and badge changes, these are arguably the nicest Excels available.
This one is in excellent condition in all respects. Owned 6yrs, and recently recommissioned by a respected local specialist after a period of storage. Fully serviced and gone through inc mot & cambelt etc, this is now running and driving very well.
Paint has a deep shine, and looks fantastic. Interior is cloth, and is bright and clean with no rips or tears. Headlining has been renewed a common issue with any lotus, and looks great. All windows work correctly. Heater, inc fan, and all guages function as they should. Pop up lights also function as they should, and are so cool.
Car starts and runs smoothly, ticks over well, engine fans kick in as they should with new switches and circuits and relays being sorted during wks. Only 60k miles with lots of history all in a neat folder. Supplying dealer plates still fitted, with excellent original 2 number RUS reg plate, worth a bit on its own.
Structurally excellent, and very clean underneath featuring full stainless exhausts. Door beams and window frames good, pass door beam is new. Rear lights stripped & cleaned, so no debris or mould inside.
Have owned a few Excels before, these are arguably the nicest and most reliable Lotus made. Not in any rush to sell, and happy to keep and enjoy, but available to the right buyer if that happens to be you, as i have a few other classics too.
To sum up, a really nice late Excel in very good condition. Full on 80s wedge design which draws so much attention and favourable comments wherever you go. The shape of these had aged well, and with Esprit prices rising fast, Excels are getting desirable, and finally gaining the recognition they deserve.
