Description

This cracking little MG Midget is number 88 of the final batch of 500 . all the final batch were black cars to celebrate the ending of the 50 year run of MG Midgets and all had a badge on the dash of whch this is still in place. I recently came across this car after it being held in a private collection for the last 14 or so years and as such did require some light recommissioning that included , new exhaust, 4 new tyres, new front springs and 1 wishbone and king pin along with new front discs and pads. all fluids have been changed as have all water hoses and along with an engine service and new HT leads along with various electrical switches is now running well. The car is extremely solid with no signs of welding ever taking place or indeed required. I MOTED the car for piece of mind and she sailed through with no advisories. I have since driven approx 200 miles with no over heating or engine issues. The paintwork is very nice but there are some blemishes if you look closely. the interior is all good with no damage to the seats but the original carpets are showing some wear. The roof has just been replaced with a brand new version. It comes with both the full tonneau and the roof cover . The history for the car is fantastic with nearly (if not every) MOT and tax discs dating back to the 90's along with a large file of paperwork including the "passport to service" and drivers handbook. It comes with a period radio cassette player and the original box for that also comes with the car. The engine and gearbox are fine as is the clutch. This car is now ready to used and enjoyed so grab yourself one of the best MG Midgets out there and put a smile on yours and everyone else's face that you pass. I purchased this car as i wanted a light project that i could do in my home garage, this car was better than i could have hoped for and when i started reading about the final "500" it just increased my enthusiasm. Gaydon Motor museum have one but it appears impossible to find out how many of these are left, i suspect not many at all. This really is a fun little car that is very cheap to not only run , but for parts and nearly everything is available at competitive prices and easily fixed with basic knowledge and tools
