Launched in 1996, the series 1 Elise took the lightweight sportscar class by storm. Designed and engineered with the Lotus ethos in mind, that weight saving was everything. With fibreglass body, it weighed just 725kg’s. The S1 has now become a British motoring icon with fantastic, affordable performance and handling. But one thing let it down…. the Rover K series. This car was with its first owner for an impressive 22 years and has been dry stored for much of it’s life, but one of the owners of this 98’ example, of which there have only been three, did the sensible thing and had it fitted with the fantastic Honda K20 engine along with a supercharger that now produced north of 300bhp. In later life it has also been fitted with Lotus Motorsport front and rear clam shells and additional aero, all painted in a stunning colour.
The car is currently owned by one of our customers who we have known for many years. He is a prolific Honda engine swap enthusiast and his build standards are some of the highest and most meticulous in the UK. He has gone over the car during his ownership and reports that the car is in good mechanical order and drives fantastic with no issues to report. The body is also in great condition considering this is a fibreglass body used on UK roads and only has a couple of minor cracks. But with his focus on racing Civics he just doesn’t feel he will have the time to use this mega machine as much as he should.

The car has a fantastic amount of history, a folder packed with receipts for servicing and upgrades, old MOT’s, and parts manuals. There is also an Elise service book, ECU connection leads and some spares. There is a set of lovely Exige 240R wheels that can be included in the sale along with the private plate for the right price. The sale also includes two keys.
