It sometimes happens that one comes across superb classic cars, true masterpieces of perfection. This Jaguar Type E 4. 2-litre Coupe Series 2 of 1969 is a perfect example. Not only does its exceptional condition, its elegant and rakish appearance, nor the perfect (and original) combination of Regency red and beige leather interior impress, but it is above all the exceptional perfection with which this magnificent Jaguar Type E has been restored that is remarkable. During this full restoration, chassis separate from the body, the car benefited from technical improvements on several points, for an impressive result. This Type E coupe, whose serial numbers are all concordant, is a true jewel.
The car was originally delivered to Canada. After spending about 18 years in a car park, its last owner acquired it in 2007 and undertook a full restoration, chassis separated from the body. A detailed photo report was made during the restoration, attesting that the car was still in excellent condition before work began. The car was fully dismantled, and each part was restored and repainted individually. The body was repainted in its original shade, Regency red, to the elegant Regency red, and all the chromes were replaced. The chrome-spoked wheels, perfectly matched and fitted with wing nuts, were also installed. The various rubber elements and trim pieces are, of course, entirely new. The result is a unique Jaguar Type E coupe, in impeccable condition.
The interior of this Jaguar Type E Series 2 is also in exceptional condition. During the restoration, the entire upholstery (carpets, headlining, seats, door cards, etc.) was completely redone in its original beige shade. The beige leather seats are immaculate and offer optimal comfort. The various chromes and trim are also in perfect condition. The dashboard is magnificent and all instruments work perfectly. During the restoration, the dashboard lighting was replaced with reliable LED lighting. The superb Classic Retro radio, perfectly matched, is MP3 compatible and connected to a Moral audio system. The wooden steering wheel is not only beautiful but also integrates perfectly into the interior.
Under the bonnet, everything shines. The magnificent 4. 2-litre inline-6 engine, fully refreshed, is a real jewel, both to look at and to listen to. During its complete restoration, the engine and gearbox were fully rebuilt, and several technical improvements were made. For example, the cooling system (radiator, hoses, etc.) was completely replaced, and electronic ignition as well as a fuel pump were installed. The car is also equipped with a new stainless-steel exhaust system and adjustable GAZ shock absorbers. Naturally, the braking system was also completely refreshed, and the differential ratio was altered to adopt a European standard of 3. 07:1. The dashboard was also modernised with Nisonger instruments. But perhaps the most impressive element is the fully reinstalled intake manifold, equipped with three new SU carburettors. Thanks to this modification, the engine develops increased power (265 bhp) and benefits from a European configuration.
This car is not only in exceptional condition, but it has also been maintained with the utmost care. A complete file, including service invoices and other documents, is available. Naturally, this magnificent Jaguar Type E is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. We are, without any doubt, impressed by this superb coupe with a strong style. This classic sports car offers surprisingly smooth and comfortable driving. Of course, everything works to perfection. The 4. 2-litre six-cylinder engine (paired with a stainless-steel exhaust system) produces a captivating sound and provides an exceptional driving experience.
