Description
It is said that in the early 1960s, in the frozen mountains of Monte Carlo, a tiny car would shake up the laws of physics… and the pride of big engines.
A car so compact that the mechanics could lift it almost in their arms.
A car that was looked down on… until it overtook everyone.
This 1968 Mini Cooper S Mk2 is one of those cars that carry a slice of history within them: the Monte Carlo spirit, the thrill of snowy rally specials, the timeless charm of victorious little British cars.
A faithful replica (built by Gary Corpe) of a genuine Works factory car, the model we present has been fully restored by us while preserving maximum authenticity; the result is simply mind-blowing!
Under the bonnet, you’ll find the 1275 S “Thick” bored to 1293cc and, as we don’t do things by halves at MMR, we took the opportunity to add some horsepower (originally a Works unit put out 90 hp). Here is, roughly speaking, a summary of the prep:
– Straight-cut gearbox, straight-cut gearset and limited-slip (3. 9:1 axle)
– Forged +20 pistons and forged connecting rods
– Nitrided crankshaft
– Head prepared with 37×31 mm valves and double springs
– Forged rocker gear 1. 4
– Race camshaft and adjustable double timing chain
– Lightweight flywheel
– Split Weber
– Complete exhaust system
The running gear has also been upgraded compared with the era; the front and rear are adjustable in every sense (toe, camber, alignment) and sport suspensions have been installed.
The interior is, for its part, entirely original and faithful down to the last detail to a Works original.
