Description
We are thrilled to present this highly original Ducati 916 Biposto - a late, 2 owner UK bike manufactured in 1998, offered here in remarkable condition with impeccable provenance.
With just 1, 569 miles recorded from new, alongside a well documented history that includes the original PDI sheet from Moto Cinelli, and the original bill of sale from Chris Clarke Motorcycles of Norfolk, it is perhaps the closest we've ever come to a box-fresh 'poster-spec' 916 - which in our opinion is a very sensible addition to any serious collection, alongside the numbered bikes such as the SP, and SPS.
Benefitting from a thorough (and documented) recommissioning in early 2025 (undertaken by Stafford Motorcycles), the bike is in ride-ready condition should you wish to experience first-hand one of the cleanest, tightest 916s we're ever likely to encounter.
Totally breathtaking, and truly an icon to cherish.
What you need to know:
First registered: 27. 05. 1998
Owners: 2
Service history: Fully documented/ invoiced.
Tyres: Michelin Road 5s F&R

Cosmetic condition:
Impossible to fault, reflecting the care and attention this bike has received throughout its life. All of that glorious rosso paintwork is in perfect condition, maintaining a factory-like finish throughout. There are no visible marks to any of the frame, or mechanical parts like the engine covers. The rider contact areas are all free from any imperfections, and the seat remains unblemished. All switchgear is beautifully clean, and functions correctly.
Mechanical condition:
Mechanically, the bike is in very healthy condition, starting instantly and achieving temperature quickly. That iconic 916cc twin is characterful, and sounds exactly as it should through the standard exhaust. The brakes are responsive, and the bike pulls up neatly. Throttle and clutch are buttery smooth, likewise the gearbox. All other controls function correctly. Please note; the belts were refreshed earlier in 2025.
What our friends at Bennetts said:
"I’m not going to prattle on about the history of Ducati’s 916. You know it won more WSB titles than any other bike, you know it was the crowning glory of designer Massimo Tamburini’s brilliant career and you know the tales about it being temperamental and unreliable.
The only two things that matter about a Ducati 916 are that;
- It is still an astonishing and unique experience to ride
- Now is absolutely the right moment to buy one
Before yesterday I hadn’t ridden a 916 since 2007. Today, I’ve been scanning the classifieds, absolutely intent on buying one…or maybe more. I’d forgotten how tiny it feels – no bigger (or at least no more bulky) than a two stroke 250. Slightly taller perhaps, slightly heavier too (but it hides the weight well) and it feels a world apart from the 851/ 888 series that came before it even if, under the skin, the changes were surprisingly small. Honda’s VTR1000, Suzuki’s TL series or even Aprilia’s enormous-feeling RSV1000 took turns at beating the 916 at horsepower, speed, comfort, reliability and value-for-money, but none of them will ever be a genuine grade-one classic."
