1972 MG B Roadster 1800cc – with the most desirable 5 Bearing Crank Engine with 4 Syncho Gearbox & Overdrive.
Finished in Flame Red with Black Leather Upholstery, Black Wool Carpets & a Black Vinyl Hood.
A comprehensive “Nut & Bolt” restoration with a photographic record which was completed in 1997 and has covered 13k miles since.
It is rare to find an older restoration which has weathered so well as this example & is clearly testament to the skill of its restorer and care of the subsequent owner.
Whilst a detail clean and a basic service would have put the car ready for use, its such a nice restoration that to do it full justice we have committed to a full recommission and detail to bring it back up to top draw condition.
Its nice to see that it is bodycolour underneath and we have steam cleaned ready for a careful coat of Lanoguard wax protection. The fitted Carpets were a little light faded so have been removed to have soundproofing fitted and a new set of Black Wool Carpets fitted to both the interior and the boot areas.
20 year old tyres are no good for man nor beast and I don’t fit budget tyres so a new set of 185/ 70 Goodyear Tyres have been fitted to the Chrome Wire Wheels ready for re-fitment.
The Speedometer was zero’d when the car was restored so now showing circa 13k miles it was probably a formality to compression test however, I am pleased to report a fantastic 195 – 200 psi across all cylinders which gives peace of mind and can be documented in the cars history
The Engine will be serviced and all oils including gearbox and axle changed using Millers Oils.
It is already fitted with electronic ignition but adding an electric fan is a recognised “good move” and will give a little more scope for town driving. Sensible additions such as a convenience charging circuit and a full tonneau will be fitted
The Seats have the desirable Black Leather with Red Piping Covers which are in great condition and will detail clean magnificently, the Steering Wheel is a genuine Motalita Item with a wood rim for an truly authentic classic feel.
There is a full photographic record of the original rebuild supplied with the car and it still wears the constructors name plate with pride.
We will naturally complete “shake down” miles before we sign off and although MOT & Tax Exempt we will MOT before handover to complete the history file.
We’ve had a number of MGB’s through our hands in the last decade and whilst this ones not the cheapest on the market , it is a nice one and I am confident will turn out to be a good value purchase going forward.
It will be ready for Spring 2026 and can be secured on a deposit for when the weather breaks !
