Why 1966 Matters – Collectability & Investment
1966 sits right in the sweet spot of VW Type 2 history. The split-screen models from this era are some of the most sought-after Volkswagen collectibles—produced in relatively small numbers compared to later Bay Window models and now becoming increasingly rare. Their values have been steadily rising worldwide, making a well-restored example like this not just a joy to own, but also a solid long-term investment.
Classic VW campers remain cultural icons, prized for their simplicity, charm, and the lifestyle they represent. Authentic, rust-free chassis examples with quality restorations—especially U. S. West Coast imports—are becoming harder to find every year.
