Description
Laverda was very active in endurance racing, and for this they had prepared a 100cc motorcycle with two camshafts driven by pushrods and rockers, a truly singular feature. Many parts were different from the standard production model. The wheels were interchangeable; the front could be fitted to the rear and vice versa. The front fork was of quick-removal type with caps on the gaiters for oil filling. The handlebars were set low, bolted under the steering plate. The small panniers had a top closure. The engine was completely different — the left crankcase cast in sand (or earth). The starting lever was retractable. The valve cover was vent-free, the vent being located in the engine crankcase. The cylinder head had enlarged valves and a bronze crown. The spark plug was 10mm. The rocker arms ran on rollers with eccentric adjustment. The two camshafts were obviously more aggressively driven and the carburettor of larger diameter. In short, a genuine little race bike.
