Introduced at the New York Motor Show in April, 2006, the Bentley Continental GT Convertible (or GTC) proved an immediate sales success. Determined to engineer the most torsionally-rigid open four-seater money could buy, the Crewe manufacturer incorporated additional steel tubing within the newcomer's A-posts and windscreen frame, reinforced its sills and cross-braced the floorplan even more. The result was a class-leading 16, 595lb. ft. per degree. A very near match in dynamic terms for its Coupé sibling, the Convertible utilised the same crushingly powerful twin-turbocharged six-litre W12 engine, Torsen-based permanent four-wheel drive system, massive ABS-backed disc brakes and sophisticated all-round independent air suspension. Electro-hydraulically operated, the Bentley's luxuriously padded fabric roof not only stowed away neatly but also provided almost limousine levels of refinement. Reputedly capable of over 190mph when topless, the GTC featured two sturdy steel hoops concealed beneath its rear headrests which could be deployed within fractions of a second if the onboard computer sensed an impending roll. Arguably more of a two-plus-two than a true four-seater, the model could raise or lower its hood at speeds of up to 20mph (a nice party piece in slow-moving traffic).

The introduction of the GTC Speed saw a power increase from 552bhp to 600bhp and torque raising from 479lb. ft. to 553lb. ft., helping the Speed to crack 60mph in the same 4. 8secs. as the GT. Improved styling included too, with Speed sill plates, a more upright, dark-tinted grille, new 20in. rims, a discreet rear spoiler and a slightly lower stance.

Finished to a very desirable specification in Black, with a Black hood and two-tone Black and Ivory interior, this Continental GTC Speed puts one in mind of the proverbial bat out of hell, although, while it possesses the performance to back up that impression, although, being a Bentley, it is perhaps most at home when engaged in relaxed, open-road cruising. Nevertheless, the various engine and chassis modifications made for the Speed model afford the option of an almost supercar-like driving experience. Not only does it have 600bhp on tap, it also features a lower ride height and stiffer suspension.

Supplied new through Bentley Birmingham and now having covered just 72, 100 miles from new, it has been well looked after all its life, with a record of twelve services plus the PDI. The PDI and first three services were performed by Bentley Birmingham between 2010 and 2013, culminating with a mileage of 18, 914. The following five were issued by Bentley Essex between 2014 and 2018, and took the mileage up to 31, 173. These are followed by three Bentley Approved Service stamps issued between 2020 and 2022, bringing the mileage up to 60, 192. The most recent service was performed by well-known marque specialist Lewmark Autos on June 3rd, 2026, at 72, 100 miles. As would be expected, it has a similarly impressive MOT record. It has been tested every year since 2013 (except in 2019) and it has passed every year since 2024 with no advisories. The present certificate is valid until April, 2027.

In thoroughly good condition throughout, this Continental promises to be a fantastic touring car for the warm months ahead. In addition to extensive MOT and service history, it is supplied with the original book pack in its leather wallet, including the set of four Quick Reference Guides.
