When Porsche unveiled the first-generation Cayenne in 2002, it marked one of the most controversial decisions in the company’s history. Known primarily for lightweight sports cars like the 911, Porsche shocked enthusiasts by entering the luxury SUV market with a vehicle that combined off-road capability, everyday practicality, and the performance expected from the Stuttgart marque. Despite early criticism, the Cayenne quickly proved to be a commercial success, helping secure Porsche’s financial future while setting a new benchmark for performance SUVs. Today, the original Cayenne stands as a landmark model that had a defining impact on both the futures of Porsche and the wider automotive industry.
Only available from 2002 to 2007, the first-generation Cayenne Turbo was powered by a 4½-litre twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 444bhp and 457lb. ft. of torque. Reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 5. 4 seconds and 158mph, the family-sized flagship was equipped with six-speed automatic transmission as standard.
This Cayenne Turbo has survived in remarkably good order, having had just four registered keepers and covered 67, 000 miles from new. Originally supplied through the Porsche Centre Silverstone in Titan Metallic with a Black leather interior, it left the factory with a host of desirable options including 20in. SportDesign wheels, fourteen-way electric comfort seats with memory package, a heated steering wheel, fittings for a roof rack, Red-painted brake callipers, the Sports aluminium trim package, Bose surround sound, and a power tow bar.
The first owner retained the Porsche until 2006 and the second had it until 2017. After a brief third ownership, it was bought by the current lady registered keeper. It has been well-maintained across its life, with the service book showing seven main dealer stamps and two from independent Porsche specialists. Other work has included the replacement of the suspension compressor and boot lid gas struts in 2019, wheel refurbishment in 2020, and new brake discs and pads all-round fitted as part of a full service in November, 2025 (not shown in the service book). A genuinely well-preserved example, it is supplied with the V5C, assorted MOTs and invoices, the original book pack, and two keys, and will have a fresh MOT at the point of sale. To give an idea of just how good it is, in 2024 it was loaned to Porsche GB as a display piece for the flagship Mayfair dealership and the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone for the dealer preview launch of the then-latest Cayenne.
