Description
For sale: 1992 Opel Corsa GSi badged in UK as Vauxhall Nova.
A left-hand drive example located in Portugal, factory-equipped with an electric sunroof and electric windows.
Presented in very good overall condition, this Corsa GSi was recently featured on the cover of “Topos & Clássicos”, Portugal’s leading classic car magazine, where the car and its history were highlighted in detail.
Originally supplied new in Portugal, the car belonged to a young enthusiast who spent much of his working life abroad. Some years later, it was sold to a neighbour who never obtained a driving licence, meaning the car spent a long period off the road and remarkably preserved from heavy use.
A few years ago, a close friend of the first owner — who had shared many memories driving alongside it in his Peugeot 205 Rallye — discovered the car still existed and successfully purchased it. The story behind their youthful adventures together was later featured in the magazine article accompanying the car.
Although the car was already in solid condition, the decision was taken to carry out a thorough mechanical and cosmetic recommissioning. The car was stripped and carefully refreshed, with extensive work carried out throughout. The engine was dismantled and overhauled, the suspension upgraded, and numerous additional maintenance and restoration works completed. Some photographs documenting the process are included.
Today, the car is regularly exercised and drives very well. As expected from a usable classic, there are a few cosmetic imperfections worthy of attention if the next owner wishes to take it to an even higher standard. One of the original GSi instrument gauges has stopped working, and the car is currently fitted with a replacement non-GSi instrument cluster, though the issue is believed to be easily reversible.
Increasingly difficult to find in honest, unmodified condition, the Corsa GSi / Nova GSi has become one of the most appreciated 1990s hot hatches among collectors and enthusiasts alike, combining lightweight handling, rev-happy performance and pure analogue driving feel.
Around 150 detailed photographs are available upon request.
Price: €13, 900 (payment in Euros).
The vehicle may be reserved with a deposit. Should the car not correspond to its description or the condition shown in the photographs and videos, the deposit will be refunded in full.
The car is located in northern Portugal, close to Porto Airport, which offers numerous low-cost connections throughout Europe. I would be pleased to collect any genuinely interested buyer from the airport.
Worldwide transport can be arranged at the buyer’s expense, and I can happily assist with contacts for reputable classic and collector car transport specialists.
