Description
This excellent value 1954 Land Rover Series One had arrived with us in part exchange from a customer based in Surrey in 2024, shortly after its arrival we sold it to a regular customer based in Aberdeenshire where the 247 XUM sat amongst a small collection of unique British classics. 247 XUM has the highly desirable 2. 0 petrol engine and the driving experience is further enhanced by a Fairey Overdrive. Our Landy also comes with both a new soft top and truck cab and is a very strong, usable example that carries a good level of patina.
247 XUM appears an honest example, its aged paintwork suits it, and with a strong chassis and solid bodywork this is the perfect ‘user'. It's ideal for all weather, all year-round use and there's no doubt this robust example can be improved in the detail, but for anyone looking for a good value, strong driving usable Series One this offers a fantastic opportunity.
Our Series One doesn't come with any early history, but we know its ex-military and only has six recorded owners since registration 69 years ago. It has recently benefitted from a brake system overhaul where it received new brake drums, brake pipes, brake adjusters, new wheel cylinders, and a new brake master cylinder. In addition, a new canvas top was fitted along with a new electronic fuel pump. Whilst far from perfect cosmetically, its presentable inside and out, and importantly on the road the Land Rover is great fun offering typical early Land Rover performance with lots of charm.
The vehicle is due into stock shortly where new photos will be taken featuring the new canvas top.
