Ive owned this car for approx 12 years and kept it in a heated and dehumidified garage whilst in my possession . It’s never been out in the rain or on winter roads. I bought this special car from the owner of a top well known Corvette specialist company, this was the CEOs own car. The colour is stunning and quite rare. Its pewter Silver (924) which was only used in 1972 on GM cars and the lowest order of 1972 , only 1372 were ever ordered making this a rare survivor. With the Red interior it stands out from the crowd. The reason for this combo is in its history. It was originally ordered as a special order with all extras (fully loaded as we used to say”)by a senior executive at General Motors. This is documented in the history file. He kept the car all his life until his death where upon he handed it to his daughter again all this is documented in the history file. The USA file is extensive with many original documents , deeds and literature and makes interesting reading. The next owner in the USA was also long term buying off the deceased estate , keeping it in Florida where it was from new . All documented . The car was kept tip top condition and used only for shows and eventually got bought over to the UK after winning several prestigious awards in the USA. All mileage from new at various stages in the USA and UK has been documented . The mileage now sits at 34380 which is genuine and documented , I bought it at 31500 miles . This car is NOT a body off restoration its totally original and has all that it came with from the factory. Including all factory glass. All work done in the USA and here has been done with keeping the car as original as possible even down to using Delco Remy parts where possible . It won awards in the USA before coming to the UK at huge Corvette events for being most original . Here it won a Gold award 3 years running at the Corvette nationals for most original C3. Stickers are still in the windscreen. When I bought it I sent it to a top class Bugatti and Porsche approved bodyshop (Shorade) as it had some stone chips etc. This was put in an ultra violet booth and any imperfections marked , most not visible in normal light. They were all tiny pin prick size but spaced out over the car . So at this stage I decided to paint the car to as it left the factory . I sourced the original du-point paint code 924 which was a super rare Gm colour only used in 72, of which gm was on strike for a large part of that year. I spent approx 10 k having it painted with everything taken out screens , all trim etc etc. So this is still as per factory. This was approx 12 years ago so not a fresh restoration please do not expect a brand new car. But it is of show standard . In my ownership , whenever ive had work done originality has been key . Work includes new starter (factory spec) master cylinder , rear calipers and hoses etc , just replaced front calipers and pads and hoses , new battery , new Rochester factory original carburettor. New factory original exhaust manifold, converted to electronic ignition but all within original distributor . loads of work done by a Nottingham corvette specialist years ago to keep a vey high level of maintenance even though hardly used . Also Straight to the Point racing more recently.(£2800), who again did his work whilst being sympathetic to the originality of the car. I also put a private plate on it which can be bought on separate negotiation or it will go back to its original “L” registration number. Needless to say with such low miles and very low owners in the USA and UK and including the ‘GM” link it makes the car a bit special . The car came with all options , clip out rear windscreen , electric windows, tilt and telescopic steering column , Air con , air pump , original stereo , etc. All remain on the car. IN the history folder , though very tatty is the original GN order sheet ! My car drives very well indeed, all dials working as they should including the clock! The Oil pressure gauge and clock were repaired by Lincolnshire Corvette . There is an extra oil pressure gauge under the bonnet.
There are a few imperfections that I know of.
The heater matrix has been disconnected and has been all the time of ownership. There is some melted wax (my fault ) in the windscreen heater vent )
Horn push doesnt work
Tiny chip size of a match head on d/ side wing edge. And a small chip on rear arch. Happened at Goodwood Revival !!!
I would love this car to go to a good home to carry on its remarkable story .
As the car has just come out of storage I have done an oil and filter change, anti freeze , new spark plugs and leads , new brake fluid , Gearbox fluid , etc etc.
This is a private sale and not easy to let go as it’s so special and admired by many over the years. Please serious enquiries only . Probably worth a lot more abroad but would be nice for it to remain here.
