For sale a unique 2 door Datsun 160J SSS – KPA10.
Registered early 1980.
MOT until End Oct 2015. Presently SORN and in dry storage. This car has been used as a daily driver until end of Nov 2014, when road tax ran out and I decided not to re tax and put it back into storage. So she is nice and dry in winter months. It is very well undersealed so nothing stopping you from using it over winter too. It’s even got a nice warm working heater matrix and working rear heated screen. THIS IS NOT a project car … TAX, INSURE AND DRIVE. I can tax it at buyers expense.
Spec:
- 1. 6litre SOHC running on twin SU’s
- 5 speed Dogleg Gearbox
- Interior is VERY clean and untouched.
- The sale does not include any spares or the alloy wheels pictured. These are can be offered separately. However I do have a set of clean period Wolfrace Slot Mags that will be put on the car when she goes.
- Body work is tidy.
- All electrics work apart from those mentioned below.
- Absolutely brilliant drive and keeps up to the modern traffic and traffic jams! Idles beautifully at 850-1000revs and the 5spd box give it that extra grunt.
- No after-market mods on this so you are getting a genuine 1980’s Datsun.
- New set of period rear shocks
- Chrome is very tidy and almost no pitting.
MUST VIEW TO Appreciate the car. AS CONS below are only very small issues.
Cons:
- Untidy repair in engine bay done by previous owner at the bottom of the suspension turrets.
- Engine bay could do with a spring clean.
- Areas of bubbling - Insides of doors, towards the bottom have only surface rust. Can I STRESS this is ONLY Surface rust.
- Paint work is not concourse
- Intermittent wiper speed does not work – Low and High speeds do.
- The roof lining has sagged.
- Radio doesn’t work – There is an after-market cassette player which used to work but one day decided it would stop playing out Abba tunes!
- I am a little particular with my cars so these are really very small issues that I have not got round to sorting. For its age the car is VERY TIDY and I recomend a personal viewing - pictures don't do it any justice.
The PA10 is an extremely reliable car that is very simple to maintain. It was made famous in the 80’s when Datsun took the international Rallying scene by storm. Wining back to back events like the Safari Rally. The 2 doors KPA10 are getting rare and picking up good value. There are probably around 15 registered in the UK of which most are SORN. I get stopped many a times when driving this car and will be sad to see it go. Every time I’ve left it in a car park I’ve come round to people gathered around it.
Right then – How much? I will let go of her for £3, 850 ;-) but I am open to sensible offers. If she does not sell then I will put her on flea bay and open it to Europe.
