The 240Z has established itself as a very prominent platform to benefit from restomod works, and very few can replicate the build file and specification that this example offers. With well over 100 individual invoices dating from US importation in 2017 to completion in 2024, every single component has been traced and every date time-lined, to present one of the most well documented builds completed only 1, 027 miles ago to the height of tastefully modernised 240Z standards.
Imported from the USA and sold by a Nissan Main Dealer in 2016 at 61, 718 miles, this example was the ideal dry-climate base for the comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration that was completed over a 7 year process across 2 phases. Initially undertaken as a meticulous personal project from 2017-2022, the shell was stripped to bare metal, acid dipped, and fully prepared internally, externally and underneath for paint. Without a care for cost, every cosmetic and mechanical component featured on the 240Z was carefully upgraded and ordered from various specialists worldwide, importantly including a full RHD conversion. The original L24 inline-six was professionally rebuilt, rebored, head matched, port polished and converted to standalone engine management with individual throttle bodies, mated to a Nissan Silvia 5-Speed Manual Transmission and remapped to a dyno’d 176 BHP.
Changing hands in August 2022 as just a tastefully modified nut-and-bolt restoration, this final phase saw a 16 month build with over £20, 000 of expenditure at marque specialists ‘Fourway’s Engineering’, to reimagine and modernise this 240Z to a comfortable restomod status. Most notably fitted with electric power assisted steering, heated rear windscreen and a reimagined interior — installed with sound deadening and fully retrimmed in Caledonian Black Leather, the headlining was redone in vinyl before being fitted with Recaro seats, 3 point seat belts in body colour and a nardi steering wheel. The audio system was overhauled and wired for microphone and DAB with a Blaupunkt bluetooth head-unit, JBL BassPro Subwoofer and rear speaker boxes. The build was finalised with a 3 stage machine polish and Gtechniq 7 Year Ceramic Coating.
With only 1, 027 miles covered since completion, only used sparingly as part of a vast collection, and professionally up-kept under storage and maintenance programme, this 240Z is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. Accompanied by a binder absolutely full of invoices is a detailed provenance timeline and specification overview with the answer to any question.
