Present owner since November 2011, prior keeper had the car for 21 years.
Full service, timing belt replacement, starter motor, battery, LHM flush and three genuine Citroen spheres in 2011 shortly after purchase at 25k miles by Citroen main agent.
Genuine Citroen Valeo clutch & exhaust manifold in 2012 at 28, 800 miles also by a Citroen main agent. Additionally two new outer spheres later the same year. Annual servicing and further spend since then, including plugs, belts, hoses and replacement used wiper motor from a very late XM.
G515 OAG was sold new by Hemingbrough Motors in Selby in February 1990 to a local gentleman. By November of the same year, it had passed to the next owner in Caterham, Surrey via Citroen Hammersmith, who proceeded to own the car for the following 21 years. It was used very sparingly indeed by its elderly owner and kept in immaculate condition and ready to use by local Citroen agents, W Shirley & Sons of Croydon.
I acquired G515 OAG in November 2011 and commissioned the same Citroen dealer to undertake a full service, replace the LHM and timing belt prior to handover. At this point, the mileage was little over 25k.
A comprehensive record of work undertaken since 2011 comes with the car, as does its complete owners pack with original stamped service book and a copy of the lavish XM launch brochure that I acquired after great effort to source one.
It will come as no surprise that G515 OAG drives like a new car, rides beautifully, handles and steers crisply, with no errant clonks or rattles. All electrics work just as it emerged from the factory, even the remote central locking and the two dashboard matrix displays are functioning correctly. Two factory keys are present one of which is the remote locking commander.
The revolutionary Hydractive suspension performs correctly, stiffening the springing whenever extra stability is needed, but watches unobtrusively at other times, allowing a pillow soft ride quality.
The body presents extremely well and from 6 feet it could well be a new car from 25 years ago. The pictures illustrate the exceptionally clean and tidy coachwork. I wouldn't be surprised if it were the cleanest S1 XM in the UK today. The interior is, quite simply, astonishingly fresh and unworn and even smells new. A set of genuine Citroen XM rubber mats come with the car which have clearly protected the carpets from wear since new.
I am a real enthusiast of hydropneumatic Citroens and she will be sorely missed. I have lavished attention on her during nearly 4 years of my ownership and have spent in excess of £3700 during that time, ensuring this Paris Pullman is ready to waft you to the Riviera tomorrow in complete reliability. The car will come fitted with a new alternator prior to sale as a final gift.
Extremely rare in this timewarp condition, early cars are set for true classic status, like its DS and CX predecessor.
She would be best placed in a collection of classic and modern Citroen saloons to represent an XM in near-to new condition and I would be happiest selling to such a buyer.
