Built from all new parts in 2014/ 2015 from a kit supplied by Lister Bell Automotive. This car is based on the original Lancia Stratos but incorporates many new remanufactured components (supplied by LB) made from stainless steel and anodised billet aluminium. .
The car is built from an extremely rigid, powder coated chassis which includes the integral roll cage. The main floor is laser cut stainless steel as are many of the underbody flooring and cooling channel components. Suspension is manufactured from powder coated, fabricated wishbones and control arms which are assembled using full rose jointed fittings allowing the suspension to be fully adjustable. The brakes are bespoke components manufactured by ‘Hi Spec’ all carrying the Lister Bell logo and are ventilated discs all round with 4 pot calipers. Separate handbrake calipers are also fitted to the rear wheels.
There are gas filled adjustable dampers all round, with progressive rate springs which ensure a compliant ride quality. Anti roll bars, again fully adjustable via stainless steel rose joint linkages, are fitted front and rear and the car sits on Lister Bell’s own replica ‘Coffin Spoke’ alloy wheels.
Following the Stratos concept, the engine is a 2, 5 litre V6 24 valve unit with 6 speed gearbox from the Alfa Romeo 156.
This gives the car the performance of a modern sports car whilst retaining all the exciting characteristics of the original Stratos.
Full Build Specification as follows:
Lister Bell STR chassis with full integral roll cage in 45mm & 50mm CDS tubing built to RAC blue book specification.
Steering- Provided by a custom built steering rack with 2. 6 turns lock to lock.
Brakes- Braking system is controlled by a bias adjustable pedal box with a 6. 25:1 pedal ratio. 308 x 25 ventilated discs on each corner with HiSpec 4 pot calipers & EBC pads
Suspension- Lister Bell CDS tubular wishbone set with bespoke billet alloy uprights all round.
Dampers- Black Art gas adjustable front coilovers, Black Art gas adjustable rear struts, mated to Eibach progressive rate springs.
Anti roll bars- Front & rear bars fitted, fully adjustable.
Wheels- Lister Bell 8 x 16” front & 11 x 17” rear 2 piece coffin spoke rims.
Tyres- Toyo R1R tyres in 225/ 45/ 16 fronts & 275/ 45/ 17 rears.
Engine- 2, 5litre V6 from an Alfa 156, the engine had a top end rebuild including new water pump and uprated GTA clutch fitted prior to being fitted in the car.
Engine Management is via the Alfa ECU
Transmission- 6 speed unit from the Alfa 156
Clutch- Alfa GTA unit fitted.
Exhaust- Repackable Stainless system utilising twin silencers fitted with catalysts.
Fuel Tank- Inboard mounted fuel cell in aluminium, 45 litre capacity.
Cooling- Front mounted alloy cored radiator with twin 12” ECU controlled coolant fans.
Body- Lister Bell group 4 square arch body finished in pre coloured gel finish fibreglass.
Glazing- E marked electrically heated front screen & laminated double glazed rear screen, Acrylic double curvature side screens.
Interior- Fully trimmed Alcantara dash with replica instruments and switchgear. Alcantara door cards. GRP seats with adjustable headrests trimmed in Alcantara with vinyl inserts. Full carpet and headlining set.
Ventilation- Fresh air vents via roof scoop and full air conditioning system.
The car was finished in February 2014 and passed the VOSA ‘IVA’ test in March at the first attempt. It is now correctly registered with DVLA and carries an ‘age related’ registration plate.
This car was built without compromise and also includes some additional ‘convenience features’ that were not in the original Stratos such as full air conditioning, heated windscreen, electrically operated door mirrors, automatic reversing camera and remote locking.
A documented build file is available including dozens of pictures, certificate’s, invoices etc and these will be included with the sale to preserve the vehicle history file.
It has now covered approx. 700 miles since first registration and is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.
