One of the very best 205 GTI 1. 9’s currently available. Originally supplied new in Tokyo, Japan and in outstanding overall condition this unique little 205 GTI will be almost impossible to repeat. Examples like this with very low mileage and rust free condition are very rare to see nowdays. With only 300 Sorrento Green models produced and with very few surviving this little Gti is quite unique. A pure drivers delight, the 205 Gti 1. 9 is a true hot hatch legend and now an established classic in its own right.
This particular example has had one owner since new & was stored away and started from time to time & due to owner's age was not registered for road use in Japan since 2006, which partly serves to explain it's very low mileage. It's in perfect mechanical health, starting instantly and settling down to a steady idle after it's warm-up, good tight gearbox with no synchromesh wear problems, chassis with no rust at all, unmarked wheels and an excellent original interior. Note tyres are new also. Once it arrives to the UK, it'll receive a complete inspection, full service inclusive of brakes & all engine service items, be presented in perfect order ready for daily use, should the new owner want to put it to such tasks.
All original keys are also included, as well as original Japanese manuals. The original Peugeot hifi is in the boot, there is no hifi currently fitted, just a neat blanking cover but we'll be happy to fit a period looking Clarion CD/ USB/ Radio before delivery (from stock) if the new owner desires.
There is also proof of mileage from the shaken certificate, we will supply a scan of the original with the car on completion, so that paperwork can continue to tie in with onward ownership & care with this car's new owner in the UK. Some service history is also included.
Exterior & Interior Condition Report: In keeping with the history of it's life in Japan this example, although rust proofed as new from the factory, has no corrosion at all to the underside. Even the original exhaust is still rust free and has original paint on! The fuel pump, although original still has original nickel plating on hose fittings, black paint on brackets, etc. The wheels have no bubbles of corrosion beneath the surface and are unmarked. Tyres are new Toyo DRB 185/ 55R15 . The plastics are in excellent condition, inclusive of bumper corners & arches, mirrors, etc. The bodywork shows this car's been well loved and cared for. The Sorrento Green paint is fantastic with a beautiful reflective finish.
Interior benefits from a very expensive full grey nappa leather retrim just completed by Robson leather with original seat material for the seat centers, the interior looks and smells beautiful!Carpets are original and without staining and as with the exterior, all the plastics are well preserved too. The electrics all work fine. It's never been smoked in either, the cigar lighter has never been used. A new custom mat set has been fitted. This car has factory fitted air conditioning which of course blew refreshingly cool on the warm day we shot pictures you see on our site. It also has factory fitted power steering.
Road Test: The engine starts perfectly and settles down to a steady idle from cold, with good strong oil pressure. With mileage this low and typically frequent Japanese oil change intervals, it has no mechanical wear. Gearbox shows no wear to synchros.. Performance is good, as to be expected from a car this light, but most notable is the enthusiasm with which this car can be thrown into corners. It feels small because it is, yet the interior isn't cramped at all. The factory slidable sunroof's pneumatic seal works perfectly too. There's nothing at all we could find amis with this example.
