Beschreibung
The description of this car is being updated as I have started work in order of priority for mot.
Lots of pictures available, including with headlights out showing how straight the front is.
I am offering this car as a project at the moment, but if it remains with me I shall get her together and it will be first class (and priced accordingly). Good cars are £2500 with really top ones more and rising.
I have had a pre-mot and it needs only minor matters sorting. Call me or e-mail and I will detail. NO RUST, NO WELDING. Most of this is now done. All that remains for the mot is rack boots, front flexi brake pipes, two short metal brake pipes to rear and free off rear brakes/ handbrake. I have new brake cylinders for rear, the boots and front hoses with the car now.
On first glance it may look more costly than some other project XR4i's, at a middle price for one of these. However I put this cars value on its bodyshell, I have not seen such a solid sierra shell for a long while. Two door Sierra's being very sought after now, other projects are available from £500 but will probably need a lot of welding/ panels etc. This car is absolutely original and unmessed with. It appears never to have been welded cosmetically or structurally and Mr Mot confirmed it needs none!
Options not always on an XR4i are power steering, electric mirrors and electric windows.
Solid black with grey interior and only 2 former owners, the last since July 1988. It has been off the road dry stored for 12 years. The body is virtually rust free, incredible. Not the usual rusty old Sierra. It has only a few localised dents which are small, the worst on a rear quarter and nothing a little work would not correct. They are not at all unsightly though. The body kit is all present and correct.
The interior is great, currently very dirty but no tears or wear of note to the seats. The dash as usual has cracks but I have a very rare near mint correct MK1 dashboard to go with it! (a valuable find!) A really good clean and some minor improvements it will look superb
It starts, runs, drives and stops and seems healthy. It will need recommisioning and the usual common sense items tending to after a lay up. There are a few extra things to the mot I have noticed need doing. I will happily discuss it honestly. The gearbox as is common with this gearbox whines, especially on take up but works well with excellent synchromesh.
The engine sounds good, I have compression tested it and the results support this, all 157-165psi. It starts every time first time cold or hot. I have now got it running spot on, and we checked the emmissions again recently, CO 0. 97% and hydrcarbons about 160- 170ppm. Previously it was too high due to a misfire.
Five excellent pepper pot alloys, 2 new looking tyres and the other 2 excellent.
There are a few spares with the car including the oh so rare good dashboard to fit. I have just got a pair of brand new in the box headlights too and fitted them.
In summary, a virtually rust free two door Ford sierra, the 2. 8V6 XR4i model which is now becoming very sought after.
Available before I tend to it cosmetically. Contact me if you are after one. This car is an easy project indeed and will be available later with a new mot, prepared and for more money.
I suspect the three door bodyshell in such good condition is worth close to the sale price.
Trailer delivery available at fair cost.
If you want it mot'd, £1595 no offers. I would still suggest recommisioning. (and give me time to do mot!)
