Lot 44
A 1958 MG A 1500 roadster, registration number LSJ 410, Chariot red. The all new MG A was launched at the 1955 Frankfurt Motor Show, featuring the beautifully streamlined body and B series engine. The MG A would remain in production until 1962 both in roaster and coupé body styles. It was revised in 1959 with a larger 1600cc engine and other modifications which became retrospectively known as the series II and the exotic twin cam was produced for a short period between 1959 and 1960. This particular example started life as a left hand drive export model destined for an American dry state. It was purchased by the vendor, an engineer, in approximately 1989 as a restoration project. A full bare shell restoration was then carried out with the body being resprayed in Chariot red after body repairs, the engine and running gear were rebuilt with all new ancillaries. The wiring loom was replaced, the interior was retrimmed in cream leather with red Wilton carpets and a period radio was fitted (currently not wired in). All weather gear was replaced and the car sits on period correct painted wire wheels. The restoration was completed in approximately 1991 and a modest 3, 000 miles has been covered since. This beautifully restored MG A will be offered for auction with receipts, previous MOTs, heritage certificate and photographs of the restoration. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See back cover and other illustrations
Estimate £24, 000 - 26, 000
