The Fiat Giardiniera was the longest running model of the 500 series, and has some very interesting specifics. The engine of the Giardiniera is laid under the boot floor, to create a flat loading surface. The fabric roof stretches all the way to the rear, with no obstacles. In 1966 production was transferred to Desio, where the Giardinieras were built by Fiat’s subsidiary company – Auto Bianchi. In total 327, 000 Giardinieras were built, with the later models having the Auto Bianchi badges rather than Fiat. The Giardiniera estate is capable of carrying 4 adults and 25cwt. of luggage at 60mph. and returning 46. 8 mpg.
Having only just arrived in the Uk. Direct from Italy, the car was previously subject to a total body, drive train, and suspension renovation, which was completed to the very highest of standards by a renowned specialist in Italy, using only original parts. The bodywork is finished in the original ‘Bianco white’ colour, which extends to the inner wheel arches and also under body: which is fully detailed, and as you would expect, is arrow straight, and flawless.. The 499cc engine pulls very well and starts first time. The engine bay and boot are ultra clean and detailed. The 4-speed gear box is slick and quiet with no faults. The braking system is very good, just as you would expect, having had an expensive disc brake conversion fitted to the front. All the suspension system is new, as are the tyres.
The interior is all as new, including the door cards and boot area, and has the advantage of a centre consul, with fitted radio, and 12 volt supply for a sat-nav etc. She also boasts a tow bar with working electrics, a great asset to have for towing a micro-caravan or trailer. We consider this Giardiniera is quite possibly the best one that is currently for sale in the United Kingdom.
